Ms. Barrett



Ms. Barrett hails from York, South Carolina.  After traveling to Charleston with her family during her childhood, she fell in love with the city.  She earned a BA in Communication Studies at the College of Charleston. After that, Ms. Barrett moved to Arlington, VA and taught preschool for two years.  Then she moved to Gainesville, FL and earned an MA in Elementary Education. After this, Ms. Barrett taught in San Diego for 3 years in public schools and at the Institute for Effective Education as a special education teacher. After this, she moved to San Francisco.  Ms. Barrett then earned her Special Education degree from California State University in Hayward, CA. She returned to Charleston in the summer of 2016. She presently holds California and South Carolina general and special education teaching credentials to teach and is presently pursuing National Board Certification for teaching. She has been teaching a total of 15 years, focusing on educating students with special needs. In her spare time, Ms. Barrett enjoys exercising, finding ways to produce less waste/make our city and county greener, cooking, and baking.
